A deck of cards and endless challenges of broom or trump next to the hearth. Playing cards, the most popular entertainment in Italy, linked to folklore and tradition. From Bergamo, Bologna, Treviso or Neapolitan, the list is long: each area of the Bel Paese has its own. 40 rectangles, each with its own suit which can represent defeat or victory. We drew inspiration from here for our “Carte” scarf series.
BAGLARI It draws inspiration from the suit of clubs of Trevisane playing cards. These cards are part of the “Northern Italy” type, where the staffs are shaped like scepters or ceremonial maces. The scepter in itself is an object in the shape of a more or less long and ornate rod, generally decorated with precious metals alongside precious stones, often surmounted by symbols, used to indicate the "power to strike" of the person carrying it and therefore, in general, as a symbol of power. Another meaning of the scepter probably originates in the first peasant civilizations of antiquity, deriving from the instrument used for measuring fields, therefore representing a decision-making aspect. For this reason it is a typical attribute of deities, priests, sovereigns, military commanders and magistrates
