A deck of cards and endless challenges of broom or trump next to the hearth. Playing cards, the most popular entertainment in Italy, linked to folklore and tradition. From Bergamo, Bologna, Treviso or Neapolitan, the list is long: each area of the Bel Paese has its own. 40 rectangles, each with its own suit which can represent defeat or victory. We drew inspiration from here for our “Carte” scarf series. Each scarf is sold accompanied by a postcard describing the line and graphics and inside a white box.
SCIMITAR The band you have chosen is called SCIMITARRA, it draws inspiration from the suit of swords of Bergamo playing cards. The swords are curved like sabres, although the true origin of this shape is perhaps to be found in the scimitars depicted in ancient Arab cards, as these styles are most likely a development of the first decks imported into Italy and Spain by the Arabs. The scimitar symbolizes a trophy taken from the enemy.
